What is a Sustainable Business?
According to wikipedia.org a sustainable business, or a green business, is an enterprise that has minimal negative impact, or potentially a positive effect, on the global or local environment, community, society, or economy—a business that strives to meet the triple bottom line. In general, business is described as green if it matches the following four criteria:[2]
- It incorporates principles of sustainability into each of its business decisions.
- It supplies environmentally friendly products or services that replaces demand for nongreen products and/or services.
- It is greener than traditional competition.
- It has made an enduring commitment to environmental principles in its business operations.
We're all about sustainability here at Love My Mat. We appreciate our precious planet and base our decisions & practices on what is best for her. Because why wouldn't we?
But we're not the only ones making conscious products in a world overrun with fast fashion, disposables & out sourcing. We are surrounded by & inspired by so many women making the right choices when choosing materials & production methods to offer shoppers high quality products without sacrificing our earth.
We love supporting local businesses, sustainable businesses and women-led businesses. We love collaborating with our sisters to lift each other up and help spread the word on the work we're all doing. So for 2020, all of us at Love My Mat decided we should share these lovely lady businesses with all of our dedicated customers. Because wouldn't you rather buy the things you need from real people making real products?
The Oxford Dictionary defines Sisterhood as;
an association, society, or community of women linked by a common interest, religion, or trade.
Each month we'll be highlighting one of our favourite businesses within our Sisterhood. We'll share their stories, what products we use and why we love them. For many of these Sister Businesses we'll be offering an exclusive sale on our website featuring our fav products. You can check out these special offerings here.
