I love having a regular meditation practice. It helps me in so many ways. So why do I let myself loose my practice? Well, life. Being a busy mother of two and business owner, my needs often come second or third or probably fourth if I’m really being honest here.

But we are all busy. Busy seems to have become an emotion or feeling lately. Like when someone asks me, “How have you been?” my reply is almost always, “Busy.” And I’m not the only on with this response. It seems to me that “busy” is the new “fine.”

Let’s stop the glorification of busy.
And instead welcome the slow. Welcome the quiet.

We all have things that consume us and take up our time. But we also all have time to do something we want everyday. How often do you pick up your phone to waste 10 minutes on social media or scroll through Pinterest? In all honesty, I probably do this at least 3 times a day.

But I’m getting off topic here. See how easy it is to get distracted?
Back to meditation. Back to me.

When I have a consistent meditation practice, my life seems less busy. Whether it actually is or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that my perception changes. I become more aware of my thoughts. It becomes easier to hold on to the positive thoughts and let go of the negative self-talk. I react less and smile more. I become less selfish and more selfless. I argue less and love more. My digestion improves. My sleep improves. Pretty much everything improves when I’m practicing meditation daily.

These are the reasons that I’ve chosen daily meditation for my June Challenge. For the month of June, I’m returning to my meditation mat. I’m setting my alarm a little earlier and scheduling in 10 minutes each day to sit still and listen lightly.

So here’s my invitation for you to join me. This month, I’ll be giving away a free Meditation Cushion (shipping included) to someone who’s committed to daily meditation.

If you want to be entered to win, here’s what you have to do.

How to Win:

  1. Make a promise to yourself to meditate for at least 10 minutes every day in June.
  2. Follow @LoveMyMat on Instagram or Facebook
  3. Post a video or photo of yourself meditating at least twice per week to your Instagram Story or Feed, or Facebook account, tagging @lovemymat
  4. Tell your friends to join in too! For every friend you tag in your posts, you’ll get another entry to win

Hoping you’ll join in for the opportunity to win, but more importantly for the opportunity to connect with your community and yourself in the most authentic way possible.

If you’re new to meditation & don’t know where to start, check out The Ultimate Meditation Guide written by our friends at Culinary Teas. Then keep checking our blog and social media feeds and stories for more info and tips on how to keep up with your meditation practice.
