Updates to Our U.S. Shipping Policy

At Love My Mat, we’ve always strived to make our products accessible to everyone who values sustainable, Canadian-made yoga and meditation props. As a women-owned, small business in Canada, we know that every purchase matters—and we work hard to keep shipping fair and simple. Unfortunately, recent changes to U.S. tariffs and de minimis rules have made it increasingly difficult for Canadian businesses like ours to continue offering free shipping across the border.

This wasn’t an easy decision, but after much consideration, we need to adjust our U.S. shipping policy. Going forward, we are no longer able to offer free shipping to the United States on orders over $175. Instead, U.S. customers will be responsible for the shipping cost at checkout, while we will continue to cover the expected fees, duties, and taxes on our end.

We understand that this is a change, and we want to be clear about why it’s happening and what it means for you.

Why We’re Making This Change

In recent years, U.S. trade policies have shifted dramatically. President Trump’s unprecedented tariffs on Canadian-made goods created significant challenges for small businesses like ours. While some of those tariffs were introduced years ago, their ripple effects are still being felt today. Many Canadian entrepreneurs, particularly women-led companies, are struggling to balance fair pricing with the growing costs of exporting to the U.S.

Adding to that, changes to U.S. de minimis rules (the threshold at which goods can enter duty-free) have further complicated cross-border shipping. What used to be a relatively straightforward process has become a financial burden that small businesses can’t absorb without raising prices or cutting corners. That’s never been our way—we don’t compromise on quality, sustainability, or fairness.

By adjusting our shipping policy now, we’re protecting both our customers and our business so that we can continue serving you long-term.

What This Means for U.S. Customers

Here’s what you can expect when ordering from Love My Mat in the U.S.:

  • Shipping costs paid by you: The cost of shipping will be calculated at checkout. This ensures transparency and allows us to keep product pricing steady.

  • Duties & taxes covered by us: We’ll continue to use carriers like UPS and FedEx International DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), which means we cover duties and taxes upfront. This can potentially save you hundreds of dollars in surprise fees at your doorstep.

  • CUSMA certificates included: Every shipment goes out with proper documentation under the Canada–U.S.–Mexico Agreement. This greatly reduces the chances of additional tariffs or taxes being applied.

  • Smooth, reliable delivery: So far, most of our U.S. customers have had issue-free deliveries, and we intend to keep it that way.

Our Ongoing Commitment

We’re proud to continue shipping to the U.S. Many Canadian businesses have been forced to scale back or stop altogether, but we know how much our sustainable yoga and meditation props mean to our American community. We don’t take your support for granted, and we will do everything we can to make your experience seamless.

If trade policies or tariffs shift again, we promise to keep you informed. In the unlikely event that shipping becomes impossible or unsustainable, we’ll pause temporarily—but rest assured, we’ll always be transparent about what’s happening and why.
